Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR)

Child Care Benefit is a payment to help families who use registered or approved care. Child Care Benefit is income tested.

The Child Care Rebate helps working families with the cost of child care. The Child Care Rebate covers 50 per cent of out-of-pocket child care expenses for approved child care up to the maximum legislated amount per year per child in approved care.  Child Care Rebate is not income tested.

From 1 July 2011 you have the option to receive your Child Care Rebate paid either directly to your child care service or directly to your bank account (fortnightly, quarterly or annually, and in many cases weekly depending on when the attendance details are lodged).

In order to receive these payments, families must have their eligibility tested by Human Services and are to provide the centre with a copy of their 'Assessment Notice of Child Care Benefit for Approved Care'.  Please contact Human Services on 13 61 50 for further information, or visit their website at
